March is National Craft Month !
:typerhappy:
National Craft Month (USA)
The National Craft Month promotion in March is a time when retail craft stores around the country hold special activities, events, workshops and demonstrations to familiarize consumers to the many joys and benefits of crafting.
:boogie:
"Crafting is booming</i> and continues to gain in popularity. Why? Because it's an enjoyable activity that provides lots of benefits. It's easy; it helps reduce stress; it builds children's self-esteem and learning skills; it's emotionally pleasing; and most importantly — it's fun!
The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) has dedicated the entire month of March to celebrating all that crafting has to offer.  "Crafting is a great way for families to get together, be creative and have a good time,"  Call your local craft store or visit www.craftplace.org for additional information.
CHA is a not-for-profit organization consisting of more than 6,000 member companies engaged

Lowtech News: It's our Birthday!
:party:It's our Birthday!
Lowtech-Artists has been going strong for a full three years now, and to celebrate, we'd like to feature some of our members! But first...
.:The Story:.
On March 08, 2005, three intrepid friends UltraRedRaptorHacker10101and squeet-chan(now mossi-mo) saw how little attention traditional artists were recieving in the community. To combat this they decided to create a club, lowtech-artists Now three years later, it boasts an active 600 member base, and over 1700 deviations in the gallery. Through thick and thin, Lowtech has been there to showcase the talent of our often overshadowed traditionalists.
.:The Thumbs:.
These members were picked at random from our member list. There is a thumb representing an artist from every letter. Remember, the Lowtech categories include Photography and Literature(though no literature deviants came up in the drawing.)
Enjoy.

The Round Robin Is About To Begin!
wireworkersanonymous is holding their first contesto of the year!
it's called the "Round Robin" swap, and they're taking entrants RIGHT NOW.
the idea behind the swap is this:
you make a frame, and mail it to another person who will be doing the same. (they won't be mailing their frame to you tho, you'll get someone else's!)
once you get the frame, you decorate it however you'd like!
there will be winners for:
best frame
best innards
best overall
and the deadline to enter is THIS COMING MONDAY the 18th!

AC Month Interview with: lisaluera!
What is this?
Throughout the month of January, Artisan Crafts Month, I will be posting interviews with artisans who have made a difference on dA either through their own artisan crafts, or the effort they put into the community (and it's usually a combination of the two!)
This is the interview with lisaluera, Pottery mistress.
First, a little about lisaluera.
It is interesting to find out about Lisa that in the artisan crafts world she actually started out doing Pumpkin Carvings (you can see her wonderful work here on dA: pumpkinsbylisa!), and didn't get into pottery until about a year and a half ago when she randomly took a class on it.  Lisa says that she was instantly hooked.  She says that the first time she felt the clay run through her fingers, she knew it was something that she was going to be doing for the rest of her life.  One

Three Colourful Artists- Traditional Art Feature
It's Traditional Art Day!
For Traditional Art day I've decided to feature three of my favourite traditional artists on dA. One from Russia, one from Brazil and one from Turkey.  They all have a particular uniqueness to their work, individual style and hugh creativity.  But you will also notice that they have in common a joyful use of colour!
:iconSelfregion:
I met Cenin, a wonderful Turkish artist, very early on in my deviantArt experience and I have watched her art grow and develop over the last few months. From a tentative begining exploring lines, shapes, colours, depicting images of things from her daily life, she typically explores themes of the self in relation to the world.  Recently her work has concentrated on the self portrait and has become much more finished and colourful.  There is a overall feel of alienation in her work, something that I'm sure many people can identify with in this strange world we find ourselves living in a
